DALESMAN GROUP RETAIN A GRADE STATUS


Following a recent British Retail Consortium audit, Gordon Rhodes & Son, the manufacturing arm of The Dalesman Group, have successfully retained Grade A level certification.

Jill Barlett, Technical Manager of the seasoning manufacturer, commented "Meeting the requirements of the additional clauses incorporated into Issue 5 of the Global Standard for Food Safety set quite a challenge for the Gordon Rhodes & Son management team.  The team were confident that they had the capability, expertise and excellent site facility to meet with the new standard and we set about our task by implementing a full review and rewrite of our Food Safety and Quality Management System.  The copmpanys commitment to quality and safety is first and foremost and as a result we have been rewarded with our "Grade A" status achievement".

The BRC Global Standards are a suite of four industry-leading Technical Standards that specify requirments to be met by an organisation to enable the production, packaging, storage and distribution of safe food and consumer products.

Certification to a Global Standard, which is achieved through audit by third party Certifcation Bodies  reassures retailers and branded manufacturers of the capability and competence of the supplier.  The evaluation takes place during an announced audit and covers many aspects of the business, including management commitment and continuous improvement, HACCP, handling requirements, management of incidents, site security and contamination control.
